Eutelsat has announced a strategic agreement with Cadena Tres, the third largest national television network in Mexico and part of Grupo Imagen, for the distribution of its television signals via the EUTELSAT 117 West A satellite. With this agreement, Eutelsat consolidates its leadership in Mexico by becoming the satellite operator that hosts virtually all of the country’s most important public and private broadcasters within its video neighbourhood, with the E117WA orbital position now serving as the cornerstone for television distribution in Mexico and a reference point across Latin America.

The agreement ensures reliable content delivery from Cadena Tres to cable operators and over 130 digital terrestrial television sites across Mexico, guaranteeing that millions of households continue to receive diverse, high-quality programming. The deal represents a significant expansion of Eutelsat’s content ecosystem in the region, with the addition of Cadena Tres completing a near-comprehensive roster of Mexico’s major broadcasters on a single orbital slot, which carries significant commercial and logistical advantages for both content providers and the cable operators and distributors that receive their feeds.

José Ignacio González-Núñez, Senior Vice President Americas of the Video Business Unit at Eutelsat, said the arrival of Cadena Tres to the 117 degrees West video neighbourhood confirms the relevance of the orbital position in the Mexican market, expressing pride in supporting one of the country’s most important media groups in its expansion. Alejandro Coronado, Director of Purchases and Exchanges at Cadena Tres, described the agreement as a key step in the network’s growth strategy, noting that Eutelsat’s coverage and reliability will allow Cadena Tres to bring its content to more audiences in Mexico and across the wider region, in line with its vision of offering free-to-air television of the highest quality to all viewers. For Eutelsat, which has been navigating a period of significant strategic repositioning following its merger with OneWeb, the Mexico consolidation reinforces the continued commercial value of its geostationary video distribution business in a region where satellite remains a primary delivery mechanism for broadcast content.
