Deputy Commissioner Sarah Hayat has inaugurated a solar power system at a government girls high school in Talagang, part of a broader initiative to expand renewable energy use in public schools across Punjab. The ceremony was attended by Assistant Commissioner Suleman Mansha, Chief Executive Officer for Education Dr Muhammad Akhlaq, along with education officials, teachers, students, and local residents.
Speaking at the event, the deputy commissioner said the project aligns with the Punjab government’s efforts to improve public education infrastructure while promoting environmentally sustainable energy. She said solar power systems would provide a more reliable electricity supply, improve classroom conditions, and support more efficient use of public resources at government schools across the district.
Chief Executive Officer for Education Dr Muhammad Akhlaq said solar power systems are planned for 128 government schools across Talagang. Installations have already been completed at 28 schools at a cost of approximately Rs 24 million, with work currently underway at three additional schools and progressing at another 15, indicating a phased rollout across the remaining schools in the district.
The deputy commissioner credited the tehsil administration, school management, and donors for their contributions to the project, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and improving learning opportunities. At the conclusion of the ceremony, she presented appreciation certificates to philanthropists who supported the initiative, adding that cooperation between public institutions and the community would help advance broader reforms across the education sector in Talagang.
