Zong taking the lead- Introduces Biometric Verification System

Zong will expand its’ Biometric Verification System (BVS) at their customer service centers by initially introducing it throughout Karachi and Baluchistan.
This venture is set to make a considerable contribution toward the elimination of unregistered SIMs by adhering to the directives of PTA and the government of Pakistan. The verification system requires each citizen to approach one of their retailer, franchisee or customer service centers of Zong and provide their fingerprints for authentication against their national identity card (NIC). On the recognition of the fingerprint, the SIM will be activated.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is the prime landline and broadband telecom operator in the country which is managed by UAE’s Etisalat. Mr. Khan always stresses and enjoys a very high protocol which is not given to a board member in routine.

Development seen in the telecom sector, transport sector inadequately up 

Teledensity in Pakistan reached to 77.1 percent at the end of November 2013 as compared to 72.1 percent in FY13 while this sector import bill also significantly swelled to $ 662.1 million.
A handsome foreign investment of $120.9 million was fetched by the telecom sector by the end of September 2013, while it was recorded at $108.2 million in corresponding period of last fiscal.
A mixed performance was showed by the transport sector in Pakistan during the period under review however the SBP’s indicators depicted a much improved scenario in comparison of fading performance during last decade. Pakistan International Airline (PIA) witnessed sky high increase in operating losses to Rs 13.6 billion in first quarter (July-September) FY14, enormously increasing by 209 percent as compared to Rs 4.4 billion in the same period last year.
