E-Government Initiative: Punjab Government sets up E-police stations

LAHORE: Facilitation centers for registering complaints and an e-police station has been set up in Lahore and Faislabad. The residents of the two cities will be able to lodge complaints through one window operation for speedy response from the police. The project aims at automation of the entire system of registering an FIR in case of robbery, mugging or theft. Currently, the stations are dealing with certificates for visa immigration, character certificates for jobs, house servants etc. 

Punjab Government Relaunches its Laptop Scheme

LAHORE: Under the Punjab Government’s Youth Scheme, Haier laptops will be given out to those studying in government universities.  The laptops will be distributed to students in June this year. Earlier DELL laptops were given out to students but this time Haier has won the tender bid.  

Nokia Invests in Car Connectivity

Nokia, the cellular manufacturer is now investing $100 million dollars for connecting cars over Wifi. The company is set to initiate this fund under its venture capital Nokia Growth Partner. The new CEO of Nokia, Rajeev Suri is hopeful that car connectivity will be a new parallel to communication.
