The Government of Balochistan has announced a province-wide initiative aimed at empowering young people through technology and digital literacy. The new IT skills development program, spearheaded by the Social Welfare Department, seeks to provide professional training to hundreds of students, enabling them to participate in Pakistan’s growing digital economy. The launch event, attended by community representatives, youth, and local leaders, was led by Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare, Haji Wali Muhammad Noorzai, who emphasized the importance of equipping the younger generation with modern skills to build a stronger and self-reliant Balochistan.

Speaking at the event, Noorzai highlighted that the progress of both Balochistan and Pakistan is tied to the education and empowerment of its youth. He called upon parents, teachers, politicians, and religious scholars to collectively contribute to shaping the future generation by fostering not only technical competence but also moral and ethical strength. He underscored that nurturing digitally skilled youth is key to sustainable provincial development and social progress. The initiative aims to make young individuals more employable while encouraging them to pursue entrepreneurship and remote work opportunities in the evolving digital economy.

Under the program, more than 800 male and female students across multiple districts will receive modern IT training in phases. The 10-month structured course is being implemented in collaboration with Saylani Welfare Trust, an organization well-regarded for its role in vocational education and skills training across Pakistan. The Social Welfare Department has facilitated the program by providing physical infrastructure, including buildings, halls, and essential resources such as power and connectivity. A dedicated batch for 50 differently-abled students has also been launched to ensure inclusivity and equal access to digital learning opportunities.

Noorzai credited the initiative to the forward-looking vision of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, noting that the provincial government remains focused on ensuring dignified employment and business opportunities for the youth. He said that this initiative aligns with broader provincial efforts to promote economic resilience through digital capability and innovation. According to Noorzai, the government aims to encourage young people to explore online freelancing, digital services, and technology-based employment, which can open up new avenues of income and personal growth, particularly in remote areas.

He further stated that the responsibility of the government extends beyond education to include providing incentives, business support, and training programs that prepare the next generation for success in an increasingly digital world. Through this IT skills program, the government seeks to build a foundation for inclusive development and greater participation in Pakistan’s technology ecosystem. By combining education, skills, and access to opportunities, the program is set to enhance employability, strengthen digital inclusion, and help create a more empowered workforce for Balochistan’s future.
