Zong has extended its fifth generation Customer Facilitation and Sales Kiosk model to Lahore Airport, marking the second major aviation hub to receive the dedicated on-ground connectivity service following the operator’s initial deployment at Islamabad International Airport in April 2026. The rollout is being carried out in collaboration with the Pakistan Airports Authority and forms part of Zong’s broader strategy to embed fifth generation services into Pakistan’s most critical transit ecosystems, giving arriving and departing passengers immediate access to high-speed digital connectivity at the point where they need it most.
The kiosk model was designed to address a specific gap in the travel experience: the transition from arrival to real-world connectivity, with the facility enabling passengers to seamlessly connect to essential digital tools from the moment they land, including real-time communication, navigation through ride-hailing and digital maps, digital payments integrated into Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, and operational support for smooth movement through the terminal. At Lahore, one of Pakistan’s busiest airports serving a mix of domestic, regional, and international travellers, the deployment addresses a connectivity touchpoint that has historically been underserved despite the volume and diversity of passengers moving through it daily.
Commenting on the initiative, Faheem Durrani, Head of Sales and Distribution at Zong, said that airports are critical digital touchpoints where immediate and reliable connectivity is essential, adding that the initiative enables travellers to seamlessly integrate into Pakistan’s digital ecosystem from the moment they arrive. The Lahore deployment follows the successful Islamabad kiosk, which was achieved through close collaboration with the Pakistan Airports Authority at the institutional and operational levels. Zong’s fifth generation strategy is anchored in delivering enhanced customer experience, a diversified products and services portfolio, and artificial intelligence enablement, with the airport kiosk model representing a concrete expression of that strategy in one of the country’s highest-visibility public environments.
Building on the deployments in Islamabad and now Lahore, Zong and the Pakistan Airports Authority plan to further expand the initiative to Karachi, completing coverage across Pakistan’s three primary international aviation gateways and reinforcing the country’s position as a connected, future-ready nation. The phased rollout across airports reflects a deliberate sequencing that allows Zong to refine the operational model at each location before scaling, while also building a visible public presence for its fifth generation network in the environments that serve the highest concentration of business travellers, overseas Pakistanis, and international visitors, demographics that are both high-value connectivity customers and influential in shaping perceptions of Pakistan’s digital infrastructure among international audiences.
