US, Pakistan Discuss IT and Telecom Cooperation

US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome met with Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja to discuss mutual interests in IT and telecom, the digitalization of Pakistan’s judicial system, and the promotion of the gaming industry. Both sides expressed a commitment to enhancing cooperation in the IT and telecom sectors.

Minister Khawaja highlighted the progress of Pakistan’s IT and telecom sectors, emphasizing the country’s desire to strengthen its relationship with the US in these fields. She expressed interest in collaborating with the US to promote Pakistan’s gaming industry and stressed the importance of bolstering business-to-business relations between the two nations.

Khawaja underscored the current government’s focus on digitalization through the Prime Minister’s National Digitalization Plan, aiming to transform the economy, governance, and society. She pointed out that connectivity is fundamental to digitalization, and the government is actively working to provide quality broadband services across the country.

The minister also emphasized the critical role of the private sector in economic development, noting that the government is fully supporting private sector initiatives under the prime minister’s vision.

Ambassador Blome affirmed that the US is committed to fully cooperating with Pakistan in the IT and telecommunication sectors, signaling a strengthened partnership between the two countries.
