The UAE has announced a major new education initiative through the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Fellowships, designed to prepare a new generation of leaders for the future of governance. The fellowships are aimed at developing advanced skills in economic policy and artificial intelligence, ensuring that government professionals are equipped to handle the demands of modern administration.

The program will focus on two specialized master’s tracks: Economic Strategies and International Policy, and Artificial Intelligence for the Public Sector. By combining academic excellence with practical knowledge, these courses intend to strengthen decision-making capabilities and accelerate digital transformation within public institutions. According to Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, this is part of the UAE’s long-term commitment to sustainable development, where investments in people are prioritized to secure the nation’s prosperity.

In its first phase, 200 exceptional Emirati professionals working in government institutions will be selected for the fellowship, with participants equally distributed between the two study tracks. The program brings together a network of world-class academic partners chosen based on global rankings and expertise in policy and innovation. Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence will host 50 fellows, while Oxford University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology will each host 25. New York University is set to welcome 40 participants, and Georgetown University will accommodate the largest group with 60 fellows.

The fellowships go beyond academic study, offering participants the opportunity to work on practical applications that directly impact the public sector. Graduates of the program will acquire in-depth knowledge of policy design, international strategy, and applied artificial intelligence, positioning them to enhance the UAE’s competitiveness and governance frameworks. By aligning expertise in AI and economic strategy, the initiative will contribute to strengthening national institutions, enabling smarter policy design, and supporting the country’s global positioning in government innovation.

Al Gergawi stressed that the UAE’s continued success depends on nurturing talent and expanding knowledge capabilities. The fellowships are part of a broader effort to embed long-term resilience into the nation’s governance systems, with a focus on preparing professionals who can anticipate challenges and craft innovative responses. With AI and international economic policy at the center of global progress, the UAE aims to secure a future where its leaders are ready to meet complex demands and guide the country with confidence.
