In a groundbreaking development, Transworld Associates (TWA) announced today that it will land the world’s largest subsea cable system, 2Africa, in Karachi, positioning Pakistan as a major player in global connectivity. The 2Africa cable, spanning over 45,000 kilometers, will connect Pakistan to a vast network of countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe, significantly enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure and economy.
With a capacity of up to 180 Tbps, the 2Africa cable promises to meet the surging demand for high-speed internet and data services. Transworld Associates will build and manage the cable landing station in Karachi, establishing Pakistan as a critical hub for international data traffic. The company also plans to establish a Tier-3 data center at the same location.
“This is a game-changer for Pakistan,” said Saad Muzaffar Waraich, President of Transworld Associates.
“By landing 2Africa, we are not only improving connectivity but also creating new opportunities for businesses and individuals alike.”
Ismail Shah, Meta’s Head of Connectivity Policy for the Asia Pacific region, expressed optimism about the project, stating that it will strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and facilitate integration with global markets.
Transworld Associates has a proven track record in the submarine cable industry, having previously landed the SMW-5 and TW1 cables in Pakistan. The company aims to establish itself as a leading player in the country’s growing digital infrastructure sector.
