Warid Introduces: ‘SMS based Blocking/Restoration’ Service

Warid introduces another industry first ‘SMS based Blocking/Restoration’ Service which allows its users to block or restore their services using simple SMS commands for free. There are three options including; Blocking the number on voluntary basis, restoring the number blocked on voluntary basis and blocking the number in-case stolen through SMS command from any other number.

Hackers hit Shophive.com

Leading online shopping retail store Shophive.com was hacked and defaced earlier today. There was no apparent reason for hacking the website, apart from a message later revealed by PakCyber Army on the website, taking credit for it.

Three Months 3G Testing Licenses to be Given to Mobile Companies

There is a clear indication and proof of arrival of 3G technology in Pakistan. PTA has confirmed that they are going to issue 3G licenses to five Mobile Companies to start the 3G trial services and complete their preparation before complete adoption.

Eye-Scanning Devices Replace Finger Printing

Technology of Fingerprints security unlock was introduced through iPhone 5S but now one company has introduced a competitive technology of biometric security i.e. Eyelock. This technology device, “Myris,” will scan the iris of users at security checkpoints.

HTC Fourth-Quarter Depressing

Smartphone maker HTC is having a worse loss of T$2.97 billion ($99.9 million) by its product HTC fourth-quarter. The expected net profit of T$721.71 million ($24.3 million) wasn’t earned by HTC instead they have shrunk in size by 2.2 percent.

Typo Keyboard for iPhone Users Sued by Blackberry

Users can get all the BlackBerry-style features of keyboard along with the creative design of an iPhone. Seacrest-backed accessory, Typo Keyboard Case, which can be snapped onto the back of iPhone 5 gives the same experience as a BlackBerry keyboard, and has currently been sued by Blackberry.

Apple Facing Criticism Over Diversity of Workplace

It was observed that Apple isn’t a very diverse organization as they only have a female member in the executive committee; also most of the employees are white. However, they have recently decided to put minorities in response to the criticism.

Samsung showed their Bendable TV in CES 2014

Samsung has disclosed their Bendable LED flexible TV of 85inches (216 cm) which allow users to adjust the curvature of screen by remote control. Samsung said that curved screen will enhance the viewing experience of customers.

Users sued Facebook over privacy

Two Facebook users sued Facebook for mining into their private conversation to collect data and then sell it to the third party. The lawsuit filed earlier this week alleges that Facebook scans messages between users labeled “private” for links and other information that can be sold to advertisers, marketers and data aggregators. This is done without proper disclosure or the consent of users.
