Telenor Pakistan recently hosted a panel discussion on “Climate Change and Green Energy Transition” to explore the role of businesses in addressing climate challenges and promoting sustainable energy practices.
The event, co-organized by The Pakistan Business Council’s Center of Excellence in Responsible Business (CERB), brought together industry experts and leaders to discuss the importance of transitioning to green energy solutions.
Telenor Pakistan CEO, Khurrum Ashfaque, emphasized the company’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. He highlighted the need for collaboration and partnerships to accelerate the adoption of sustainable energy practices.
Johan Martin Seland, Director and Head of Sustainability at Telenor Asia, underscored the importance of increasing access to renewable energy and the need for supportive government policies, such as long-term power purchase agreements.
The panel discussion also highlighted the crucial role of cross-sector collaboration and robust sustainable policies in unlocking Pakistan’s renewable energy potential. By working together, businesses, government, and civil society can drive the transition to a low-carbon future.
