According to SAS, it is “a term that describes the large volume of data – both structured and unstructured – that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis.” Syed Zeeshan Ali is the General Manager IT at the mammoth National Foods, and he knows a thing or two about the deluge of data that large corporations have access to. Analyzing big data, and using those insights to make strategic business decisions is what will make organizations successful.
What was National Food’s biggest takeaway from 2017?
As organizations operate their business year after year and/or expand their sales in numbers and volumes, data too has shown relative exponential growth. Organizations now need to incorporate analytics so as to decipher the trends and make informed and intelligent strategic decisions.

Onwards to 2018
Challenges remain in developing reliable strategic decision-making analytical tools. While data has grown exponentially and is now categorized as BIG, analytics is even more fundamental and a core driver to ensure strategic decisions are based on informed and accurate information. There is strong demand from all areas of business to make full use of visual analytics and automate mundane processes so as to focus on core areas involving operational optimization while ensuring business growth.
