The Supreme Court of Pakistan has launched a nationwide E-Filing System aimed at modernizing legal procedures and improving efficiency across its judicial infrastructure. The digital platform has been made operational at the Principal Seat in Islamabad as well as in the Supreme Court’s regional registries in Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, and Quetta. This step is part of an ongoing effort to transition the judiciary towards a more transparent and accessible system, reducing dependency on manual processes and minimizing delays associated with traditional paperwork.
Under this new system, legal practitioners and concerned parties can now electronically submit petitions, memos, court orders, and judgments. All uploaded documents will be available through the Supreme Court’s Case Management System (CMS), streamlining the filing process and enabling faster access to case-related information. To further facilitate communication, the system includes automated email alerts that notify registered users of any developments in their cases, eliminating the need for physical follow-ups and minimizing logistical barriers.
All Advocates-on-Record (AORs) and Supreme Court Advocates (ASCs) are now required to register with the CMS to utilize the e-filing service. To support this mandatory registration, the Supreme Court has sought assistance from the Pakistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar Association in providing verified mobile numbers and email addresses of licensed practitioners. This measure is expected to enhance communication accuracy and reduce data discrepancies during e-filings.
Government departments that frequently engage with the court, including the Attorney General’s Office, Cabinet Division, Provincial Advocates General, Prosecutors General, and Chief Secretaries, have been asked to nominate focal persons with official contact details. These designated individuals will act as liaisons for coordinating e-filing activities on behalf of their respective institutions and ensure seamless integration into the CMS.
To provide technical assistance, Malik Sohail Ahmad, serving as Senior Deputy Director (Software), has been appointed the official contact person. Additional support is accessible through a dedicated helpline at 0307-5555645 or 051-9219255, while queries can also be directed to the official email address: ecourt@scp.gov.pk.
This digital transformation, initiated under the leadership of the Honourable Chief Justice, reflects a broader commitment to judicial reform and digitization. The E-Filing System is designed to improve case management, reduce legal expenses, and allow litigants and legal professionals to engage with the judiciary through a more structured and transparent process. By leveraging technology, the initiative sets a precedent for other public institutions looking to adopt digital platforms for service delivery, reinforcing the role of innovation in Pakistan’s legal and administrative landscape.
