Pakistan is taking a major step toward modernizing its agricultural sector through the integration of advanced space technology and digital farming solutions. SUPARCO, the National Space Agency, and e-Agri, a leading agri-tech innovator, have formalized a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. The collaboration aims to leverage satellite-based intelligence to enhance agricultural decision-making, increase productivity, and support climate-smart and sustainable agriculture across the country. The agreement marks a significant move toward combining space science with digital agriculture platforms to benefit farmers, agribusinesses, and financial institutions.

The MoU was signed at SUPARCO Headquarters in Islamabad by Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Member for Space Applications & Research at SUPARCO, and Mr. Adnan A. Syed, CEO of e-Agri. Through this alliance, SUPARCO will provide satellite-based geospatial services, while e-Agri will integrate these insights into its digital ecosystem to strengthen operational decision-making. The partnership will enable AI-driven analytics and satellite-derived intelligence to offer actionable insights for climate-smart agriculture, crop performance assessment, and risk-informed planning. Farmers and agribusinesses will benefit from improved access to timely data, enabling better management of productivity and climate-related risks.

Officials highlighted that the collaboration is designed to broaden access to agricultural finance while streamlining workflows across the agricultural value chain. By connecting farmers, agribusinesses, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies, the initiative seeks to improve visibility into crop conditions, enhance risk mitigation, and support farm credit systems. Both SUPARCO and e-Agri are exploring further ways to leverage each other’s technological capabilities and data resources to advance national agricultural objectives and create a globally competitive farming sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Zafar Iqbal emphasized SUPARCO’s commitment to using space technology for socio-economic development. He stated that the partnership represents a pivotal step in operationalizing space-based agricultural intelligence in Pakistan, combining analytical capabilities with digital platforms to improve productivity and uplift farming communities. Mr. Adnan A. Syed remarked that integrating satellite insights into e-Agri’s platform will provide farmers and agribusinesses with reliable and timely information, strengthening decision-making, enhancing agricultural outcomes, and supporting the development of more efficient, data-driven farm credit systems.

This collaboration is expected to set a new benchmark in the use of technology for agriculture in Pakistan, showcasing the potential of combining space science with digital solutions to transform the sector, enhance financial inclusion, and create a more resilient, data-driven agricultural ecosystem.
