Startup Istanbul – The Hottest Startup Conference in Eurasia

Istanbul is a seal that is considered to connect the East and the West since ancient times and for quite some time now startups from both the East and West. It is a gathering of the leading startups, internet companies, business angels and venture capitalists in Asia and Europe,

The Startup Istanbul 2017 conference is all set to take place from the 20th October to the 23rd October 2017 at Uniq Istanbul, located at the center where the business, culture and art worlds meet. More than 100 startups, 4000+ attendees and 500+ investors from over 80 countries are all set to get together.

On the 21st the Demo Day will be held at the Startup Istanbul where the 50 startups selected by mentors will be pitching to the jury in the room full of investors. The doors for the Demo Day will be only open to the investors and executives. In the end, top 15 will be selected for the finals to pitch on the Startup Istanbul stage on 23rd October.

Startup Istanbul is considered one of the most attractive tech conferences in the region, and its holds this title due to the presence of some of the elitist speakers such as: Steve Blank; Dave McClure, founder 500 Startups; Michael Seibel, CEO Y combinator; Mike Butcher, Editor at large TechCrunch etc.

Startup Istanbul is hosted by Etohum, the leading startup accelerator and seed investor in Turkey. Every year, Etohum selects the most promising startups from thousands of applicants. These teams are then trained and mentored for an acceleration period of 3 months. Etohum works with world class mentors, including advisors from Silicon Valley, the heart of entrepreneurship. IDG Pakistan is proud to have been partners for this event for the last three years and continues to take this forward in 2017 as well!

Speaking to IDG Pakistan is Burak Buyukdemir, Founder Etohum about Startup Istanbul 2016 said,

“This year Startup Istanbul has attracted 4000 entrepreneurs from 63 countries and we are going to do Startup Turkey at the end of February next year. This is basically what we are doing, for a last couple of years we have not only been interested in the Turkish startups but also the startups in the region.”

He also spoke about Bookme.pk, a ticketing platform from Pakistan, and added:

“We invested in bookme.pk two years ago which is the leading booking and ticketing platform in Pakistan. Faizan, the founder of bookme.pk, attended Startup Istanbul conference three years ago and made a great presentation. We invested in his company and we had seed investment, and Bookme.pk has made great progress with increased sales and revenue and has become a leading ticketing platform in Pakistan.”

In 2016, two Pakistani startups made it to the top ten finalists and had the opportunity of taking the stage in front of an esteemed panel of judges and a crowd of over 3000+ people attending the conference.
