Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated the province’s first Google Gemini for Education Corner at NED University of Engineering and Technology, alongside two other initiatives aimed at accelerating digital transformation across the province. The launch forms part of a broader collaboration between the Sindh government, Google, and Tech Valley Pakistan, a Google for Education partner that has been expanding similar facilities across educational institutions in the country.
Alongside the Gemini Corner inauguration, the Chief Minister also launched a Google Gemini artificial intelligence training programme for cabinet members and senior government officials, as well as 20,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships for university students across the province. The ceremony concluded with the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Secretary of the Science and Information Technology Department, the Chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, and the Chief Executive Officer of Tech Valley Pakistan, all carried out in the presence of the Chief Minister. Following the signing, Murad Ali Shah visited NED University, where he formally inaugurated the Gemini Corner, describing it as a gateway to the future and an important step toward preparing Sindh’s students for the growing role of artificial intelligence in the modern workforce.
The Gemini Corner is a dedicated space equipped with Google’s education focused artificial intelligence tools, giving NED students and faculty direct access to Gemini for Education, Google NotebookLM, and the full Google Workspace for Education suite within a secure, institution grade environment where student data is not used to train Google’s models. The facility runs on an enterprise grade security framework that includes AES-256 encryption and compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation, marking the first facility of its kind at any public sector university in Sindh. The Chief Minister commended NED University for pioneering direct access to advanced artificial intelligence technologies within a public sector institution, adding that the initiative would allow students to learn, innovate, and compete on a global stage alongside their peers at leading universities abroad.
Murad Ali Shah also welcomed the planned expansion of the programme to all public sector universities across Sindh, stating that the goal is to ensure equitable access to digital learning opportunities for talented students regardless of their background. He specifically highlighted the programme’s emphasis on women, persons with disabilities, and students from underserved communities, noting that digital education can help remove longstanding barriers and create more equal opportunities across the province. According to Tech Valley Pakistan, the NED University facility is the first of six Gemini Corners planned across Sindh by the end of 2026, part of a wider effort to bring the same artificial intelligence tools available at top global universities to students across the province. The Chief Minister congratulated NED University, Google, Tech Valley Pakistan, the Sindh Higher Education Commission, and the Science and Information Technology Department for making the initiative possible.
