Government of Sindh has joined hands with UNICEF and Khan Academy Pakistan to introduce the country’s first AI-based online teacher training program powered by Khanmigo, an AI-driven teaching assistant. This initiative represents a significant step in modernizing classroom instruction and enhancing learning outcomes by equipping educators with innovative tools to support personalized lesson planning, resource creation, and interactive learning experiences. It underscores the growing role of artificial intelligence in education, offering teachers access to technology that can help them engage students more effectively and improve academic performance.

The six-month pilot program will train 3,500 teachers across districts including Dadu, Tando Allahyar, Tharparkar, and Umerkot. These educators will be guided on how to integrate Khanmigo into their teaching processes, enabling them to plan lessons, create digital content, and manage classrooms with greater efficiency. The project reflects a collaborative approach between public institutions and international organizations aimed at building teacher capacity and promoting digital learning practices in some of the most underserved areas of Sindh. By focusing on skill-building and technology adoption, it is designed to have a lasting impact on both teaching quality and student outcomes.

The launch ceremony of this program brought together key stakeholders from government, non-profits, and the private sector. Among the attendees were Minister Education and Literacy Government of Sindh Syed Sardar Ali Shah, School Education Secretary Zahid Ali Abbasi, UNICEF Sindh Education Manager Abeer Maqbool, UNICEF Sindh Chief Field Officer Prem Bahadur Chand, Khan Academy Pakistan CEO Zeeshan Hasan, and Board Members Amin Hashwani and Naeem Zamindar. Their presence highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to advance education in the province, demonstrating a unified commitment to teacher development and the integration of AI tools in classrooms.

This program offers educators an opportunity to access Khanmigo free of charge and explore its potential to transform their teaching practices. Khanmigo is designed to provide teachers with a digital assistant capable of tailoring lesson plans, suggesting teaching materials, and creating engaging learning modules. By participating in the initiative, teachers gain firsthand experience with AI technology, preparing them to deliver lessons that are better aligned with the diverse needs of their students. Interested educators are encouraged to sign up through the official link provided by Khan Academy Pakistan to take advantage of this program and contribute to a new phase of technology-driven learning in Sindh.
