Outstanding students from public colleges in Sindh who achieved top positions in the intermediate examinations have been awarded electric bikes for the first time in the province. The prize distribution ceremony, held at the Sindh Scouts Auditorium, drew a large audience of education officials, teachers, students and parents, underscoring the significance of the initiative and the recognition of merit in the academic sector.
Addressing the event, Secretary of Universities and Boards Abbas Baloch highlighted the progress made in ensuring transparency within the examination system. He noted that for the past two years, no inquiries or disputes had arisen concerning intermediate results, demonstrating a marked improvement in the credibility of the education boards. He further pointed out that nearly all boards successfully released their results ahead of the MDCAT exams this year, enabling deserving students to access scholarships — a facility that had previously been out of reach despite high academic performance. Abbas Baloch reiterated the government’s ongoing commitment to conducting examinations with fairness and to continually elevating the standards of assessment across Sindh’s educational institutions.
Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) chairman Faqeer Muhammad Lakho, speaking to the attendees, confirmed that the distribution of electric bikes was carried out under the prime minister’s initiative to encourage academic excellence. He stressed that providing modern facilities and incentives to students is a shared responsibility between the government and education boards, aimed at equipping youth with tools that support both their academic and professional growth. The e-bikes, he explained, are intended not only as rewards but also as practical resources to aid students in commuting and managing their daily schedules efficiently.
Lakho also announced that this initiative will continue annually until 2030, reinforcing a sustained culture of merit recognition and motivation for high-performing students across the province. This commitment signals a structured approach to nurturing academic talent while blending traditional incentives with modern solutions such as electric mobility. Education officials at the ceremony remarked that this programme, alongside other efforts to streamline examinations and results, represents a step forward in making the academic environment more credible, transparent and supportive for students.
By linking performance-based recognition with environmentally conscious technology like electric bikes, the Sindh government and BIEK are positioning education incentives in a way that aligns with modern needs. This ongoing programme is set to inspire thousands of students in the coming years, embedding a culture of fairness, transparency and reward within the province’s public education system.
