PR: The Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP), in their partnership with Code for Pakistan through the Civic Innovation Fellowship, launched the “Safa Pekhawar” complaint registration mobile app here on Monday.

Present at the launch were Pervez Khattak (Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Khan Zaib Khan (CEO WSSP), Dr Francois Kampundu (UNICEF Chief Field Officer), Inayatullah Khan (KP Senior Minister), Shaukat Ali Yousafzai (KP Minister for Health and Information), and Ebtihaj Khan (Code for Pakistan/ KP IT Board).

The “Safa Pekhawar” mobile app allows users to register complaints in various categories, including drainage, garbage, and water supply. The complaints are relayed to the WSSP, where the Management Information Systems (MIS) administrator processes the complaint and assigns it to a relevant official, who is then responsible for resolving the complaint.

Users can track the status of their complaints, and are notified when the complaint is resolved. Meanwhile, the WSSP manages a web-based dashboard to track and process complaints, with a heat map that displays real-time data about where the complaints are originating. The app is currently in pilot phase and representatives from neighborhood councils in various union councils in Peshawar will have access to this Android-based app.

This application was developed by a group of four KP Civic Innovation Fellows. The KP Civic Innovation Fellowship, currently in its third cycle, is a joint program of Code for Pakistan, KPITB and the World Bank. The 20 fellows from this year’s cohort are placed within five different provincial government departments and during their six-month fellowship they develop technology and digital solutions to improve citizen-facing government service delivery.
