On September 4, 2025, Tech Valley, in collaboration with Google for Education and the School Education Department of the Government of Punjab, will inaugurate Punjab’s first Google for Education Center of Excellence at Government Pilot Higher Secondary School in Lahore. The initiative aligns with the provincial vision to establish Punjab as the AI hub of Pakistan and represents a step toward embedding artificial intelligence tools in the public education system.

The Center of Excellence will be equipped with Google Chromebooks provided by Intel, Allied, and NRTC. It is designed to serve as a reference school for the Punjab Government, where best practices, research initiatives, and scalable models related to AI-powered tools in education will be studied. The findings will guide the adoption of Google for Education solutions across public schools in the province.

This development also reflects a policy-level commitment to integrate AI into public education with the aim of reducing disparities between public and private learning environments. The focus is on building an inclusive model that enables quality digital education for all students.

The initiative includes several core components for AI integration in classrooms. Among these is the deployment of Gemini AI through Google Workspace, enabling students and teachers to write, visualize, organize, and collaborate more efficiently. Another component is the use of AI tutoring with Google’s Read Along application, which functions as an AI-powered reading assistant to support English language learning. This tool will provide teachers with real-time insights into student progress and help personalize learning experiences.

At a policy level, the program will also make use of data-driven approaches. With student-specific Google IDs, policymakers will be able to access secure, anonymized data on learning outcomes. This information will assist in shaping curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and broader educational policies.

Tech Valley, a long-standing partner of Google for Education in Pakistan, will lead teacher training, research, and digital policy development for the program. Through initiatives like the Gemini Academy for Educators, Tech Valley will focus on building AI literacy among teachers and administrators to ensure the sustainable implementation of these tools.

The inauguration event, scheduled for September 4, 2025, is invite-only and will feature live classroom demonstrations of Google for Education solutions, including Chromebook deployments and AI-powered applications. Educators, school leaders, IT administrators, and policymakers are expected to attend and explore opportunities for scaling such initiatives across the province.

For Punjab, this initiative represents more than a single school upgrade; it signals a structural shift toward integrating AI in education at scale. The Center of Excellence will serve both as a testing ground and a model for future implementations, bridging the gap between technological innovation and classroom practice.

The move comes as global education systems increasingly explore AI-powered solutions to enhance learning outcomes and teacher support. For Pakistan, the launch highlights a growing recognition of the role technology can play in education reform and skill development, particularly as the province sets its sights on becoming a hub for artificial intelligence in South Asia.

By fostering collaboration between the public sector, international technology companies, and local implementation partners, the Center of Excellence aims to create an environment where digital education tools are accessible, effective, and aligned with the needs of both students and educators.

The success of this initiative will likely be measured by its ability to scale across the province’s extensive public school network, influencing both teaching methodologies and student outcomes. If successful, it may serve as a model for other regions in Pakistan and beyond, demonstrating how targeted partnerships and AI-powered solutions can reshape public education.
