The Board of Directors of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has confirmed Nadeem Khan as the company’s permanent Chief Executive Officer, formalising an appointment that first took effect on July 2, 2026, when Khan initially assumed charge on a 14-day basis before receiving full board confirmation.
Khan brings over two decades of direct experience within the PTCL and Ufone ecosystem, making him one of the most internally experienced executives to take the top role at the company. He joined Ufone as Chief Financial Officer in 2003 and held that position for a decade, giving him an extensive operational grounding in the subsidiary’s financial management before moving into a broader group-level role. In 2017 he was appointed Group Chief Financial Officer of PTCL and Ufone, taking responsibility for the combined group’s financial strategy through a period that included significant structural transformation, most notably the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan, which fundamentally changed the scale and complexity of the PTCL group’s operations. He also serves on the Board of U Microfinance Bank and is a member of the Accounting Standards Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds membership of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Prior to his PTCL career, he completed more than seven years of international assignments with Millicom International Cellular.
In his role as Chief Executive Officer, Khan will lead PTCL’s efforts to expand and modernise its wireline network with a particular focus on fiberization and the rollout of next-generation digital services across Pakistan, while also working to strengthen the company’s position in the business-to-business segment. As Pakistan’s largest integrated information and communication technology company, PTCL continues to invest in broadband infrastructure, fibre networks, data centres, and submarine cables as part of its broader mandate to serve as the backbone of the country’s digital economy. The confirmation comes as PTCL faces intensifying parliamentary scrutiny over quality of service, with the company among the operators called to appear before the National Assembly Standing Committee on IT and Telecom at its next session to address consumer complaints about deteriorating network performance.
