The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has completed its Quality of Service (QoS) survey for fixed-line broadband services across 34 major cities in Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Conducted during the third quarter of 2025, the survey evaluated the network performance of Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) to ensure that users continue to receive reliable and high-quality internet services. The findings provide insight into the overall state of fixed-line broadband performance across the country, reflecting both strengths and areas that require focused improvement.
According to the survey, most BSPs met the key performance indicators (KPIs) set by PTA, which include parameters such as Network Availability (Local and Core), Jitter, and Network Latency across both local and international segments. These results indicate that the majority of providers are maintaining service standards aligned with regulatory expectations. However, the survey also pointed out that several BSPs continue to face challenges in maintaining consistent quality across multiple parameters. Factors such as high bandwidth utilization during peak hours were noted as significant contributors to congestion and slower internet speeds, which in turn impact the overall user experience.
PTA observed that elevated latency levels in both local and international network segments indicate potential inefficiencies in routing and backbone infrastructure. These findings suggest the need for optimization within the core network design and better bandwidth management to ensure smoother data flow during high-demand periods. Improving such aspects is essential for enhancing user satisfaction and supporting Pakistan’s increasing reliance on digital platforms for work, education, and entertainment. The authority emphasized that while the overall quality of service remains stable, addressing these bottlenecks will be crucial in achieving a more consistent broadband experience nationwide.
In response to the findings, PTA has directed all concerned broadband operators to implement corrective measures aimed at improving service quality and network reliability. These directives are intended to ensure that users benefit from faster, more stable internet connections across all regions of Pakistan. Detailed results of the Q3 2025 survey have been made available on PTA’s official website here, allowing stakeholders and users to review the performance of their respective service providers. PTA continues its ongoing commitment to monitoring network performance, ensuring transparency, and fostering a competitive environment that drives service improvement across Pakistan’s broadband landscape.
