PTA has intensified its crackdown on illegal SIM card issuance, conducting joint raids with FIA in multiple cities across the country.
Franchisees of various telecommunication companies operating in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Kot Momin, Kohat, and Hangu were targeted during the operations. These franchisees were allegedly involved in the unlawful distribution of SIM cards, a practice often linked to criminal activities such as fraud and identity theft.
Law enforcement seized a significant amount of electronic equipment, including laptops, computers, and mobile devices, along with SIM cards, CNICs, and other suspicious documents. Fifteen individuals were arrested on the spot, and FIRs have been lodged against them.
PTA has emphasized its commitment to eradicating the illegal SIM card trade, asserting that such activities pose a serious threat to public safety and national security.
