Chairman of PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, held a high-level meeting with Mr. Masanori Kondo, Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT). The meeting took place on the sidelines of the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, and focused on advancing regional cooperation in digital connectivity, regulatory frameworks, and emerging technologies.

During the discussion, Chairman PTA reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to digital transformation, cybersecurity, and efficient spectrum management. He highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to align with global best practices in telecom regulation and innovation. He emphasized that PTA is actively working on robust policy frameworks to foster a secure and inclusive digital ecosystem, ensuring that Pakistan remains at the forefront of technological advancements.

One of the key topics of discussion was the role of regulatory measures in enabling digital transformation. Chairman PTA stressed the importance of ensuring a fair and transparent telecom environment that promotes innovation, investment, and consumer protection. He also reiterated the need for regional collaboration in areas such as 5G deployment, AI-driven network optimization, and cloud computing.

Mr. Kondo lauded PTA’s progressive regulatory approach and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in adopting international standards to strengthen its telecom sector. He assured PTA of APT’s continued support in knowledge exchange and capacity building, particularly in digital governance, cybersecurity resilience, and spectrum efficiency. The discussions between PTA and APT underscored a shared vision for a digitally inclusive and progressive Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2025 marks another step toward strengthening Pakistan’s position as a digital leader in the region. It also reinforces the country’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that contribute to economic growth, enhanced connectivity, and sustainable technological development.
