PTA has blocked more than 1.54 million online URLs following public complaints, according to the latest data released by its Web Analysis Division (WAD). The figures, covering complaints processed up to July 2026, show that the regulator handled a total of 1,726,303 reported URLs, of which 1,542,800 were blocked, resulting in an overall blocking rate of 89.37 percent. According to the published statistics, 76,874 complaints remain under review while 106,629 requests were rejected. The data provides an overview of the scale of online content regulation carried out by PTA across multiple categories and digital platforms.

According to the authority, the largest proportion of blocked content was recorded under the category of Decency and Morality, where 1,065,671 URLs were blocked from 1,075,762 processed cases, representing a blocking rate of 99.06 percent and accounting for nearly 69 percent of all blocked URLs. The category identified as Others or Miscellaneous also recorded a high level of enforcement, with 891,772 URLs blocked out of 899,415 reported links, reflecting a blocking rate of 99.15 percent. Additional categories included content related to terrorism, where 141,897 URLs were blocked from 179,285 processed cases, while 112,482 URLs were blocked under Against Glory of Islam from 136,891 processed reports. PTA also blocked 74,059 URLs classified under Against Security and Defence of Pakistan from 125,427 processed complaints, along with 52,776 URLs categorized as Sectarian or Hate Speech from 76,526 processed reports. Other categories included Miscellaneous with 60,525 blocked URLs from 67,778 cases, Defamatory or Impersonation with 17,356 blocked URLs from 44,200 processed complaints, Contempt of Court with 7,716 blocked URLs from 10,115 reports, and Proxy Websites where 10,318 URLs were blocked out of 10,319 processed complaints, representing a blocking rate of 99.99 percent.

The platform wise breakdown shows that Facebook recorded the largest number of blocked URLs among major social media services, with 230,270 blocked links out of 287,362 processed reports. TikTok followed with 170,231 blocked URLs, while X recorded 74,236 blocked links. YouTube registered the highest blocking rate among the major online platforms, with 66,290 blocked URLs out of 74,823 processed complaints, representing a blocking rate of 88.6 percent. WhatsApp recorded 50,165 blocked URLs with a blocking rate of 90.53 percent, while Instagram accounted for 45,510 blocked URLs with a blocking rate of 83.76 percent. Other platforms affected included SnackVideo with 7,225 blocked URLs, Bigo and Likee with 6,539 blocked URLs, and Dailymotion with 562 blocked links. The data highlights the broad scope of online content regulation carried out across multiple digital services and social media platforms operating in Pakistan.

Overall, the latest figures indicate that nearly nine out of every ten URLs reported to PTA had been blocked by July 2026 following the authority’s review process. At the same time, thousands of complaints continue to remain under review while more than one hundred thousand requests were rejected after assessment. The published statistics provide insight into the volume of online content complaints processed by the regulator and the enforcement measures taken across different content categories and digital platforms. As internet usage and online content continue to grow across Pakistan, the data reflects the scale of PTA’s content management activities in response to complaints submitted through its regulatory mechanisms.
