In a collaborative effort, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, working closely with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, executed a successful raid against a mobile phone company’s sales channel in Kasur. The sales channel was discovered to be engaged in the illegal activation of SIMs and the sale of pre-activated SIM cards to criminals.

During the operation, the FIA team seized 53 active SIMs, and one individual was apprehended. Additionally, the raid uncovered an illegal SIM supplier network. The PTA had previously lodged a complaint with the FIA based on information regarding the illicit issuance of SIMs by the targeted sales channel.

An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against the accused, marking a significant step in combating the illegal activation of SIMs. This operation underscores PTA’s continuous endeavors to address and prevent the unauthorized issuance and use of SIM cards, enhancing security measures within the telecommunications sector.
