Punjab Information Technology Board organised a special training workshop on Project Portfolio Management for its employees, focusing on practical decision-making and management skills required for handling complex projects. The workshop was arranged through PITB Human Resources Wing in collaboration with the Global IT Certifications program and Project Management Institute Lahore Chapter. Held on Wednesday, the session provided participants with an interactive learning environment based on real-world project and portfolio management scenarios.
Titled “Navigating Portfolio Management Through Simulation,” the workshop was conducted by Dr. Khalid Ahmad Khan, President of Project Management Institute Lahore Chapter, who also participated as the keynote speaker. The session was designed to give PITB employees practical exposure to challenges that can arise when managing multiple projects and balancing strategic priorities. Through simulation-based activities, participants were required to make decisions in different portfolio management situations, allowing them to examine the potential outcomes of their choices and develop strategies for dealing with complex project environments.
The training was organised under the Project Management Institute Lahore Chapter initiative titled “Five Years of Decisions. One Hour of Learning.” The initiative focuses on developing professional decision-making capabilities through short, simulation-based learning experiences. During the workshop, PITB employees participated in hands-on exercises that required strategic decisions within simulated portfolio management situations. The approach allowed participants to apply management concepts in practical scenarios rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction, while also giving them an opportunity to consider how different decisions can affect project priorities and overall portfolio performance.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the organisation remains committed to providing modern learning and professional development opportunities to its employees so they can respond effectively to changing requirements in technology and management. The workshop forms part of PITB’s wider efforts to encourage continuous learning and improve the professional capabilities of its workforce through industry-focused training. By working with professional and certification organisations, PITB is providing employees with exposure to contemporary project management practices and decision-making methods that can be applied within technology and public sector projects. The training also reflects the growing importance of structured project and portfolio management skills for organisations responsible for delivering multiple technology initiatives and managing resources across different programmes.
