The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has recently awarded the Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) license for the Northern Telecom Region-1 to M/s Optix Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, Lahore. The Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is the delivery of television content over Internet Protocol (IP) networks.
What makes IPTV stand out is that it offers the ability to stream the source media continuously. Therefore, the customer can begin playing the content almost immediately. At the moment the most widespread IPTV service provider in Pakistan is PTCL.
The license was handed over to Optix Pakistan by Chairman PEMRA Saleem Baig handed at the authority’s headquarters during a ceremony.Earlier in 2018, PEMRA had also awarded the IPTV license to Fiberlink (Pvt) Ltd for Karachi and Lahore zones.
