Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in the global technology landscape by securing first position in an international IT skills ranking, outperforming more than 70 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The development reflects the country’s continued progress in strengthening its digital workforce, expanding access to technology education, and improving skill-based training systems that are supporting a growing number of professionals entering the IT sector. The ranking is being seen as a notable indicator of Pakistan’s increasing presence in the global information technology market and its ability to compete at an international level in digital skills development.

Officials linked to the sector stated that this achievement is the result of sustained efforts focused on expanding IT education and professional training opportunities across the country. Over the past several years, initiatives such as the establishment of software technology parks and collaborations with international certification and training programmes have played an important role in building technical expertise among young professionals. These efforts have contributed to the development of a more structured digital learning environment, allowing individuals to gain industry relevant skills that align with global technology standards and requirements. The expansion of training infrastructure has also supported increased participation in technology related fields.

A significant number of training centres have been established across various regions of the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, providing access to modern IT education for students and young professionals. These centres have facilitated training in key areas such as software development, networking, and digital freelancing skills, enabling participants to acquire certifications that are recognized internationally. According to available details, thousands of individuals have completed training through these programmes, leading to a noticeable increase in participation from Pakistan’s workforce in the global freelance economy. Many of these trained professionals are now engaged in remote work opportunities with international companies, contributing to foreign exchange earnings through digital services.

Technology experts and analysts have stated that Pakistan’s top position in the IT skills index reflects the expansion of its digital ecosystem and the increasing competitiveness of its technology workforce. They noted that the country’s youth driven labour force, combined with wider access to online learning platforms and skill based education, is reshaping its position in the global IT landscape. At the same time, analysts highlighted that continued investment in infrastructure, advanced technical training, and research development will be important to maintain and further strengthen this momentum. With consistent policy support and expansion of skill development initiatives, Pakistan is expected to enhance its role in the global digital economy and sustain its performance in future international rankings.
