Government is set to establish a dedicated IT city in Karachi, as confirmed by IT Minister Syed Amin Ul Haq. The project is expected to attract substantial foreign investment and create thousands of high-skilled jobs.
The IT city will be developed on a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with the government providing the land and infrastructure while private investors will construct and operate the IT facilities. The project is envisioned to house a range of IT-related businesses, including software development, IT services, call centers, and IT hardware manufacturing.
The IT Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for the IT industry to thrive. This includes offering tax incentives, streamlined regulations, and world-class infrastructure. The IT city is expected to become a major hub for IT innovation and exports, contributing significantly to the country’s economic growth.
A detailed feasibility study is currently underway to determine the exact location, size, and scope of the IT city. The government is targeting to commence construction within the next two years, with the project expected to be completed in phases.
The establishment of an IT city is seen as a crucial step towards achieving the government’s vision of transforming Pakistan into a digital economy.
