The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has announced a vacancy for the position of Member IT (MP-1 Scale). The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shaping Pakistan’s digital future, contributing to policy formulation, cybersecurity, and e-governance initiatives.

To be eligible for this prestigious position, applicants must possess a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in ICT-related fields from a recognized institution. Additionally, they must have substantial professional experience, including a minimum of seven years for Ph.D. holders and nine years for Master’s degree holders. Strong leadership skills, expertise in digital technologies, and a deep understanding of international IT standards are essential qualifications.

The selection process will involve a rigorous evaluation, including shortlisting and final approval by the Prime Minister. The successful candidate will report to the Secretary of IT and Telecom and will be responsible for a wide range of responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and implementing IT policies and strategies
  • Enhancing cybersecurity and data protection measures
  • Promoting e-governance initiatives
  • Fostering the growth of the IT industry and exports
  • Developing cloud adoption frameworks
  • Encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation in the IT sector

The current Member IT, Syed Junaid Imam, is set to complete his tenure in January 2025. During his tenure, the ministry has made significant strides in various areas, including digital transformation and e-governance. However, boosting IT exports remain a significant priority for the Ministry. The appointment of a new Member IT is expected to provide continuity and further drive the country’s digital agenda.
