The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has processed 73,146 degree attestation applications, which cover 139,021 academic documents, through its paperless online system since the launch of the service on May 11, 2026. The figures show that each application included nearly two documents on average, since graduates often need more than one certificate attested at a time. The numbers have been reached in under six months, and they indicate the level of use that the online system has received from graduates who need attested degrees. The commission has presented the results as evidence that the paperless process is being used widely by the people for whom it was designed.
The digital system allows graduates to obtain attested degrees without visiting the offices of HEC or submitting original documents. Applicants can complete the whole process online, and once their documents have been attested, they can download electronic certificates directly from their HEC dashboards. This removes the need to travel to an office, to queue at a counter and to hand over original papers, which were the usual requirements of the older procedure. For graduates who live far from the offices of the commission, or who are abroad, the online route offers a simpler way to obtain attestation.
The electronic certificates can also be checked by others. Employers, educational institutions and other stakeholders can verify the certificates through the official verification portal of the commission, which gives them a way to confirm that a document is genuine without contacting the commission directly. The service therefore covers both sides of the process, with graduates receiving their attested certificates online and employers or institutions confirming them through the portal, and it keeps the verification of academic documents within a single digital system.
According to the report, the service aims to simplify degree attestation for graduates who are seeking employment, further education and other professional or administrative purposes, while reducing paperwork and physical visits to the offices of HEC. The figure of 139,021 documents processed since May 11 shows the volume of attestation work that has moved from paper to the online dashboard, and it places the system among the digital services of the commission that are in regular use by graduates across the country.
