Pakistan’s armed forces intercepted several rudimentary drones on March 13 that were allegedly launched across the border in what officials described as an attempt to target civilian areas. According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations, the military’s media wing, the drones were detected and neutralized through defensive measures before reaching their intended locations. Despite the interception, debris from the unmanned aerial vehicles fell in several areas, causing injuries to civilians in multiple cities.
Officials reported that two children were injured in Quetta, while one civilian each sustained injuries in Kohat and Rawalpindi after debris from the intercepted drones fell in nearby areas. All individuals received medical treatment and were reported to be in stable condition. The military condemned the incident, stating that such actions were aimed at spreading fear among the public and represented an attempt to disrupt stability in the country.
The statement further noted that Pakistan’s security establishment remains aware of security challenges emerging from across the border and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country. Authorities said Operation Ghazab Lil Haq will continue until Islamabad’s concerns regarding militant groups operating from Afghan territory are addressed. The armed forces reiterated that they will continue to defend the country and respond firmly to any threats against civilians or national security.
Earlier, officials said two rudimentary drones were intercepted using electronic counter measures near areas adjacent to Rawalpindi. Security sources confirmed that the drones were neutralized before causing damage to infrastructure. While some speculation circulated regarding disruptions to flight operations at Islamabad International Airport, Pakistan Airports Authority later clarified that flight operations continued normally and reports suggesting a shutdown were inaccurate. Authorities urged the public to rely on verified information from official sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports during security related incidents.
