ChatGPT continues to reshape the digital habits of millions worldwide, but survey data from 2023 reveals that Pakistan stands out as one of the most engaged countries. According to the Global Public Opinion on Artificial Intelligence (GPO-AI) report conducted in November 2023, Pakistan ranked second globally in daily ChatGPT usage. The survey, which polled over 1,000 respondents in 21 countries, highlights that 28% of Pakistanis reported using ChatGPT every single day—well above the global average of 17%.

The findings underscore how rapidly Pakistanis have embraced artificial intelligence tools in their daily lives, whether for professional work, education, or personal use. Weekly usage in the country stood at 34%, while 16% reported monthly use, and 22% fell into the “rarely” category. This strong level of adoption places Pakistan ahead of developed markets such as the U.S., Canada, and several European countries, where daily usage ranged from just 9% to 18%. Only India recorded higher engagement than Pakistan, with 36% of respondents there using ChatGPT daily.

For Pakistan, these results signal an important shift in how digital tools are shaping productivity and learning. Professionals across IT services, freelancing, and academia appear to be turning to ChatGPT for assistance with tasks ranging from writing and coding to research and analysis. The high rate of daily use also reflects the adaptability of a young, tech-savvy population that is quick to adopt emerging technologies. With freelancing and digital services already playing a significant role in Pakistan’s economy, the integration of AI tools like ChatGPT suggests a deeper transformation in digital work practices.

At the same time, the survey results highlight a contrast with countries such as Japan and several in Europe, where AI adoption has been slower. In Japan, only 6% of respondents reported daily use, with nearly half saying they rarely used the tool. By comparison, Pakistan’s strong second-place ranking demonstrates not only a cultural openness to experimenting with AI but also a growing reliance on it as a utility in professional and personal life. As AI platforms expand in capability, Pakistan’s high usage rates point toward a future where the country’s digital workforce may become even more competitive on the global stage.
