Pakistan Post has announced ambitious plans to automate all of its post offices across the country, including those in Karachi. Postmaster General (PMG) Karachi, Maqsood Ahmed Baloch, revealed that this modernization will also introduce round-the-clock services in each district of Karachi through night post offices.
Currently, Karachi has 179 post offices, although 15 smaller branches have been closed due to financial constraints. The staff from these closed branches will be redeployed to other locations where their expertise is needed.
PMG Baloch emphasized the significance of Pakistan Post as a vital institution providing essential services such as parcel delivery, money orders, and urgent document dispatch. The automation project aims to modernize key post offices in Karachi initially, with plans to expand the system nationwide.
To ensure a smooth transition, employees will receive comprehensive training on the new systems. Pakistan Post is also adapting its business strategy to compete effectively with private courier companies, focusing on increasing revenue and expanding its service offerings.
The postal service is venturing into the e-commerce space to diversify its operations and capitalize on the growing online market. By modernizing its infrastructure and services, Pakistan Post aims to remain relevant and meet the evolving needs of its customers.
