Pakistan has officially opened mandatory registration for Hajj 2027, with Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf formally launching the process on June 22 and allowing intending pilgrims to complete initial registration from home through the Pak Hajj mobile application, available on both Android and iOS.

Registration can also be completed through the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ online Hajj Management System or in person at a participating bank branch, giving applicants flexibility in how they complete the process regardless of their level of digital access. The current phase is an initial registration stage rather than a final Hajj booking, with only those who complete this step eligible to proceed to the formal application and booking stage once the government releases its Hajj Policy 2027 and announces package costs, installment schedules, and booking dates. Registration is free of charge and open to applicants intending to travel under either the government or private Hajj scheme, with the government processing bookings on a first-come, first-served basis until Pakistan’s allocated Hajj quota is filled.

The Pak Hajj app, developed by the National Information Technology Board, allows applicants to view and verify personal information, bank account details, group information, mehram details, nominee information, and helper information. Recent versions of the app also include training schedules, Quick Response code access, photograph and passport upload functionality, health forms, accommodation details, prayers in Urdu, English, and Arabic, and lost-and-found information, with private Hajj applicants additionally able to access their application and package details through the platform. A passport is not required at the initial registration stage but will be mandatory when formal Hajj bookings begin, with applicants required to hold a valid Pakistani passport, though the minister’s announcement cited November 26, 2027 as the validity deadline while earlier ministry guidance and Allied Bank registration information reference November 16, 2027, meaning applicants should confirm the final passport validity requirement directly with the Ministry of Religious Affairs before the booking stage opens. Pakistan is also currently in negotiations with Saudi Arabia over a possible increase to its Hajj quota ahead of the 2027 season.
