Pakistan Digital Authority has announced the appointment of Aamer Rana as a Member of the Authority, bringing more than three decades of global experience in large-scale digital transformation to a founding leadership role at the institution responsible for delivering Pakistan’s National Digital Masterplan. Rana joins Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir and Vice Chairperson and Director General Mohammad J Sear at the helm of Pakistan’s national digital mission, further strengthening the executive team that Pakistan Digital Authority has been assembling since its establishment under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act 2025.

Aamer Rana’s professional background spans some of the most demanding and high-stakes digital transformation environments in the world. He served as Managing Partner at IBM Consulting, one of the largest technology services and strategy firms globally, where he worked across enterprise-level transformation programmes in senior leadership and advisory capacities. He also served as Head of the Professional Services Business Unit at TONOMUS, the digital and technology subsidiary of NEOM, the Saudi Arabia-backed futuristic city development that represents one of the most ambitious national-scale digital infrastructure projects undertaken anywhere in the world. These two roles together reflect a career built at the intersection of large-scale enterprise technology delivery and national digital vision execution, precisely the combination of skills that Pakistan Digital Authority needs as it moves from policy design into implementation of the National Digital Masterplan.

His areas of expertise span digital strategy, enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence capabilities, and national-scale digital systems, covering the full breadth of the technical and strategic domains that PDA’s mandate encompasses. His work carries a defining focus on building public and enterprise technology infrastructure that is designed to scale and endure rather than delivering solutions that work at pilot scale but fail to sustain at national deployment levels. This orientation toward durability and institutional depth is particularly valuable for Pakistan Digital Authority, which must build digital public infrastructure that serves hundreds of millions of citizens across a highly diverse geographic, linguistic, and socioeconomic landscape.

The appointment of Aamer Rana as a Member of Pakistan Digital Authority continues the institution’s strategy of recruiting senior leadership with international technology credentials and firsthand experience of executing digital transformation at a scale comparable to what Pakistan’s National Digital Masterplan envisions. Alongside the earlier appointments of Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Data Officer, Chief Citizen Experience Officer, and Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, Rana’s addition to the PDA leadership team signals that the authority is assembling the human capital needed to credibly execute one of the most ambitious government digitisation programmes in Pakistan’s history.
