Pakistan is stepping into the global gaming spotlight at GDC 2026, presenting a compelling case for its rising role in the international game development industry. At one of the world’s premier platforms for game developers, Babar Ahmed, CEO and Founder of Mindstorm Studios, will deliver a keynote highlighting Pakistan’s growing influence in the sector. Titled “Next Global Powerhouse in Game Development,” his talk will outline the country’s talent advantages, industry momentum, and strategic position in the future of gaming. Ahmed brings more than two decades of experience, including leadership on chart-topping titles that have collectively generated over $100 million in revenue, providing a strong foundation for his argument.

The presentation, hosted by TechDestination Pakistan, aims to position Pakistan not merely as an emerging market, but as a global contender capable of producing world-class games and gaming technologies. Ahmed will provide insights into the country’s expanding game development ecosystem, emphasizing how local studios are leveraging creativity, cost efficiencies, and technical expertise to compete on the global stage. He will also explore how partnerships with industry stakeholders, combined with government support and investment in digital infrastructure, have contributed to a thriving environment for developers in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s presence at GDC 2026 is backed by a coordinated effort from key national organizations, including Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan, Pakistan Software Export Board, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and Pakistan IT Industry Association (P@SHA). These institutions have been instrumental in supporting local game developers, promoting international visibility, and facilitating access to global markets. The showcase at the Moscone Center in San Francisco underscores Pakistan’s commitment to positioning itself as a destination for innovative game development and technology talent.

Scheduled for Thursday, March 12, from 1:50 pm to 2:10 pm local time at the International Stage, South Hall, this session is expected to attract game developers, investors, and industry leaders seeking to understand emerging opportunities in South Asia. Beyond demonstrating Pakistan’s commercial potential, Ahmed’s talk will highlight initiatives in education, talent development, and cross-border collaboration that are helping to elevate the country’s profile within the global gaming community. Observers anticipate that this exposure will encourage partnerships, investment, and collaboration, paving the way for Pakistan’s gaming industry to grow into a sustainable and influential sector with international reach.
