Pakistan has formally proposed the creation of a digital corridor with Kuwait aimed at strengthening collaboration in cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, and technology. Ambassador Zafar Iqbal highlighted the proposal, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Kuwait in achieving its digital transformation objectives. The discussions with Kuwaiti authorities, including Khaled Al-Zamel, head of Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), focused on building trusted regional partnerships to enhance joint efforts in cyber resilience, regulatory coordination, and digital skills development.

Ambassador Iqbal outlined Pakistan’s extensive IT capabilities, noting a workforce of 600,000 professionals, over 20,000 technology companies, and more than 300 international tech firms operating within the country. The nation also maintains a comprehensive national cybersecurity framework with specialized laboratories and computer emergency response teams, positioning Pakistan as a reliable partner for collaborative projects in cybersecurity and digital innovation. The proposed corridor is envisioned to support pilot projects, regulatory alignment, and talent exchange programs, creating avenues for shared growth in technology and digital services.

The ambassador referred to recent initiatives that have fostered collaboration between the two countries, including the Pakistan-Kuwait Technology Conference held in September 2025 and Pakistan’s Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum. These platforms facilitated government dialogue, business connections, and knowledge sharing across sectors such as artificial intelligence, fintech, health technology, cloud services, and cybersecurity. Highlighting Pakistan’s experience in GCC markets, Iqbal stressed that the country offers a skilled, cost-competitive IT workforce capable of contributing effectively to Kuwait’s digital ambitions.

Looking forward, the digital corridor is expected to encompass cooperation in cloud computing, smart infrastructure, 5G readiness, and startup partnerships. By aligning Pakistan’s growing technology expertise with Kuwait’s forward-looking digital vision, both nations aim to foster regional digital prosperity and strengthen cybersecurity resilience.
