Pakistan has deployed 1,136 5G sites across 23 cities as of August 4, 2026, according to the latest data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Jazz leads the rollout with 689 deployed sites, accounting for 60.7 percent of the total, followed by Zong with 338 sites representing a 29.8 percent share, and Ufone with 109 sites making up 9.6 percent of the nationwide deployment.
The rollout remains heavily concentrated in the country’s largest urban centers. Lahore currently has the highest number of deployed sites at 241, made up of 159 from Jazz, 55 from Zong and 27 from Ufone. Karachi follows closely with 257 total sites, comprising 119 from Jazz, 111 from Zong and 27 from Ufone. Islamabad has 192 sites in total, with Jazz contributing 98, Zong 56 and Ufone 38, while Faisalabad has 131 sites, dominated by Jazz with 117 sites alongside 6 from Zong and 8 from Ufone. Smaller deployments have also taken place in cities including Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Abbottabad and several other locations, though these remain considerably smaller in scale compared to the four largest cities.
The PTA said it continues to closely monitor cellular mobile operators to ensure the timely rollout of 5G services across the country, and will continue submitting periodic updates to the relevant parliamentary committee overseeing the sector’s progress. According to industry sources, operators have set internal targets to complete major phases of their deployment by August 14, coinciding with Pakistan’s Independence Day. Jazz is reportedly working toward approximately 1,000 total 5G sites, Zong is targeting between 400 and 500 sites, and Ufone, now merged with Telenor Pakistan under the name PTML, is focused on reaching 100 sites during this initial deployment phase.
The competitive pace of rollout reflects the pressure operators are under to expand coverage quickly following the completion of Pakistan’s 5G spectrum auction earlier this year. With deployment still concentrated in major cities, the coming months are expected to show whether operators can meet their internal targets while beginning to extend 5G coverage into smaller cities and towns currently underserved by the network.
