Pakistani students have been marking their presence (and brilliance!) globally by achieving outstanding results and awards competing against top universities from all over the world. The theme of this year’s event, the annual Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge 2017 was to design projects and products which were developed to optimize the lives of human beings.

Student-led delegation from National University of Science and Technology (NUST) won first place in the Stanford Center on Longevity Design Challenge 2017, held in California. Their team consisted of Hooriya Anam, Awais Shafique, and Arsalan Javed who managed to beat teams from universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cornell University, Virginia Tech, University of Sao Paolo, Beijing University and Stanford University.

With their anti-tremor prototype project TAME, the team seeks to develop wearable technology for the suppression of real-time pathological tremors without hindering the voluntary movement of the patient. The winners not only got a cash prize but also free entrepreneurial-related guidance.
