The National Technology Council (NTC) is making significant strides towards achieving provisional signatory status of the Sydney Accord, an international agreement for recognizing qualifications in Engineering Technology. NTC aims to collaborate with Malaysia and New Zealand, with Dr. Paul Wilson from New Zealand already nominated as a mentor.
In a recent online meeting, key figures including Engr. Imtiaz H. Gilani, Chairman NTC, and Bret Williams from New Zealand discussed the roadmap. NTC, a subsidiary of HEC, enjoys autonomy, a crucial factor for signatory status.
Chairman NTC highlighted the importance of Sydney Accord signatory status for Pakistani engineering graduates, aiming to elevate their global recognition. The collaboration with stakeholders and support from HEC are pivotal in this endeavor.
As part of the mentoring process, Dr. Wilson is expected to participate in accreditation visits by NTC, tentatively scheduled for September 2024. Clarifications were provided regarding procedures and regulatory responsibilities to ensure smooth progress.
