Effective February 5, 2024, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and the Motorway Police have jointly declared that M-Tag registration is now obligatory for all vehicles traversing motorways.
The decision, aimed at enhancing the efficiency of entry and exit procedures at motorway junctions to facilitate smooth traffic flow, was officially confirmed by authorities.
Previously, there had been a relaxation in the M-Tag requirement, but it has now been reinstated as a compulsory prerequisite for all vehicles using the motorway network.
In response to the enforcement of this new mandate, both the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) and the NHA have issued crucial advisories to motorists, urging them to promptly complete their M-Tag registration process to evade potential penalties.
Additionally, officials have extended assistance to motorists seeking M-Tag registration by directing them to customer care centers. Here, they are requested to present their vehicle registration documents along with their ID cards for verification purposes.
Moreover, a recharge facility has been introduced at toll plazas, providing users with a convenient avenue to manage their M-Tag accounts seamlessly.
