The Department of Software Engineering at NED University of Engineering and Technology is hosting FYDP Expo 2026 on May 7, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, inviting industry professionals, academics, and the broader technology community to witness the final year design projects developed by its graduating cohort. The expo, organized in partnership with NextGENi and sponsored by Quice as beverage partner, spans multiple labs and brings together an impressive range of student-built solutions that reflect both the depth of technical training at the institution and the ambition of Pakistan’s next generation of software engineers.
The projects on display span a wide range of domains and technological approaches, with artificial intelligence featuring prominently across virtually every lab. Among the standout projects is AlzTwin, an AI-powered patient-centered digital twin designed for Alzheimer’s care and progression monitoring, and Oralysis, an explainable multimodal artificial intelligence system for early detection and risk prediction of oral cancer. Climavert addresses environmental concerns through a blockchain-based carbon credit ecosystem for emission tracking, verification, and offset monetization, while Coolience proposes an environment-friendly approach to smarter cooling and carbon reduction in data centers. On the security front, ScamSheild uses artificial intelligence to detect fraudulent chat messages and profile images, KubeDDoS offers an adaptive security framework for auto-scalable indirect distributed denial of service attacks in Kubernetes environments, and Lumen evaluates the security and quality of large language model-generated code. Other notable projects include IRIS, an explainable AI-powered inventory and warehousing solution using computer vision and agentic AI, LeakSense for water leakage detection in pipelines, WisprNet which functions as an offline emergency messaging network, and SatIntel which applies satellite intelligence to planning and disaster management.
The expo’s Lab 5 reflects a particularly strong focus on practical, market-ready applications. Jobsinc combines agentic artificial intelligence with WhatsApp-powered workflows for recruitment automation, while HIRELY offers an AI-powered interview evaluation system and HisabKaro positions itself as an AI-powered personal finance manager. LegalAssist brings artificial intelligence into the legal aid space, AutoGrade applies AI to transforming manual academic grading into a consistent automated process, and Nafa AI provides an artificial intelligence-powered financial recommendations model. SpeechSpectrum focuses on early screening of autism-linked speech delays, DroneMate offers an intelligent conversational assistant for safe and explainable drone operations, and Vocalog delivers an industry-tailored AI-powered meeting intelligence and documentation system. Also on display are research-oriented projects submitted under TIEST including a machine learning-based soil water quality prediction study using Tharparkar as a case study, a hybrid deep learning model for gold price prediction through news sentiment analysis, and a biometric identification improvement system for aged and labor populations. The breadth and ambition of the projects at FYDP Expo 2026 make it one of the more compelling showcases of student-led technology innovation in Karachi this year.
