NADRA has introduced a major simplification in the process for obtaining Succession Certificates, aiming to make it easier for citizens to access inheritance rights without being bound by geographic restrictions. According to a notification shared by the Associated Press of Pakistan, legal heirs can now initiate and complete the application process at any of the 186 Succession Facilitation Units (SFUs) set up across the country, regardless of the location of the inherited property.
These SFUs are integrated within existing NADRA centres in Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. The move removes the earlier requirement that succession certificate applications be submitted in the same province where the property was located. This requirement had previously caused inconvenience for many citizens, especially legal heirs residing in a different region than the one where the property was registered.
One of the core improvements in this initiative is the enhanced biometric verification process. NADRA now offers flexibility by enabling biometric authentication either at any nearby designated NADRA centre or remotely using the Pak ID Mobile App. This option significantly reduces logistical barriers for applicants, especially for those living in remote areas or abroad, and increases the overall accessibility of the system.
NADRA had previously rolled out remote biometric verification through its mobile app, but the application submission still required physical presence in the province of the inherited property. This restriction has now been lifted, making the process fully accessible from anywhere in Pakistan. This change reflects a deeper push towards the digitization of citizen services and greater ease of access to legal documentation for the general public.
A NADRA spokesperson confirmed that all 186 centres offering Succession Certificate services have been officially notified and briefed, ensuring that the upgraded service is immediately accessible to citizens. This move is expected to benefit not just residents within the country, but also overseas Pakistanis managing inheritance-related affairs from abroad.
The upgraded system supports NADRA’s broader vision to modernize public service delivery and align with digital governance objectives. By integrating convenience and technology into a previously complex legal process, the organization aims to remove procedural hurdles and enhance citizen experience. The remote and cross-regional capabilities of the new setup also represent a step forward in decentralizing essential services without compromising legal validity or verification standards.
This development is part of ongoing efforts to digitize public services and ensure inclusivity through tech-driven solutions. By removing provincial restrictions and offering multiple biometric verification options, NADRA is providing a more flexible and efficient framework for legal heirs across Pakistan to claim their rights with greater ease.
