Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has clarified that PTA is not involved in funding, procurement, appointment, or operations of any firewall project at the national level.

In response to questions raised in the Senate, the ministry stated that the PTA’s role is limited to regulating the telecommunication sector and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Regarding the slow speeds on WhatsApp in August, the MoITT informed that it had taken up the matter with operators, and the issues were resolved by the first week of September.

The ministry also addressed the vacant position of Managing Director of the Pakistan Software Export Board. While Ali Raza was appointed to the position in April 2023, he was later removed due to a lack of security clearance. The ministry is currently working on filling the vacancy.
