Dr. Akif Khan, Managing Director of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board, has been awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the President of Pakistan, one of the country’s most distinguished civil honours, in recognition of his leadership and significant contributions toward digital transformation and the promotion of innovation and technology across Pakistan.

The Tamgha-e-Imtiaz is awarded to individuals who have rendered meritorious services to the state or made outstanding contributions in their respective fields, making Dr. Khan’s recognition a formal acknowledgment at the highest institutional level of the impact his work at KPITB has had on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s technology ecosystem. Under his leadership, KPITB has been instrumental in establishing technology parks, digital skills programmes, and innovation-driven initiatives that have extended the reach of Pakistan’s growing technology sector into one of the country’s most strategically significant provinces.

KPITB extended its congratulations to Dr. Khan on the honour, expressing pride in his achievement and conveying best wishes for his continued success. The award reflects the broader recognition within Pakistan’s policy and institutional landscape that technology-led governance and digital infrastructure development are not merely administrative functions but nationally significant contributions deserving of formal honour. For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which has made meaningful strides in positioning itself as a participant in Pakistan’s digital economy over the past several years, Dr. Khan’s Tamgha-e-Imtiaz is both a personal milestone and an institutional validation of the direction KPITB has taken under his stewardship.
