Jazz remained Pakistan’s largest cellular operator in August 2026, while the combined Ufone-Telenor business continued to maintain a market share close to the top position. According to the latest market-share data reported by TechJuice, Jazz held 36.13% of Pakistan’s cellular market in August, increasing slightly from 36.09% in July. The company gained 0.04 percentage points during the month. Meanwhile, the merger of Ufone and Telenor has significantly changed the structure of the telecom market, with the two operators collectively accounting for 36.03% of the market based on their individual shares reported by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Ufone recorded a modest increase in its individual market share during August, rising from 14.97% in July to 15.05%. Telenor, on the other hand, saw its share decline from 21.06% to 20.98%. When the two figures are combined, the Ufone-Telenor entity holds 36.03% of the cellular market, only 0.10 percentage points below Jazz’s 36.13%. PTA continues to report Ufone and Telenor separately in its market-share data, although the companies now operate as a single business following Telenor Pakistan’s integration into the PTCL Group.
Zong maintained its position as the third-largest operator when the merged Ufone-Telenor business was considered as one entity. The operator recorded a 26.83% market share in August, unchanged from July. The Special Communications Organization (SCO) accounted for 1.01%, compared with 1.04% a month earlier. Overall, the month-on-month changes remained relatively small, with Jazz, Zong, Ufone and Telenor each recording movements of less than one percentage point. The figures indicate that the overall distribution of cellular subscribers remained relatively stable during August despite changes in ownership and consolidation within the sector.
The latest figures come as Pakistan’s telecom sector enters a new phase following the recent 5G spectrum auction and continuing network expansion. Operators are expected to use additional spectrum to expand high-speed mobile broadband services and increase network capacity. PTA data previously showed Jazz leading the initial 5G rollout with 689 sites, followed by Zong with 338 and Ufone with 109 as of August 4, 2026. The combination of network investment, 5G deployment and the Ufone-Telenor consolidation is likely to remain an important factor in how Pakistan’s cellular market develops in the coming months.
