In celebration of the International Women’s Day, IDG is back with its series featuring women from around the local ecosystem. Tête-à-Tech with E-Elle’s; here in conversation with Areej Mehdi, Program Manager for the MIT Enterprise Forum, Pakistan.
Areej’s message for International Women’s Day 2018 goes out:
“I would like young girls and women to know that leadership is not inherent. We can all learn to become leaders in whatever we choose to do, whether it is our professional or personal life.
The myth that leadership is a ‘new’ concept for women is false. We’ve seen strong female leaders in our culture who have been a part of everything; from leading political parties to leading the conversation on nationhood, to being thinkers, scientists, and artists.”

As a woman in the field of technology, there are days where I feel constrained my imposter syndrome; the feeling that I don’t belong in this system. What do I do when that feeling sets in? I fight it and march on. There are so many things that need my vision and attention and I choose to battle my inner misgivings with compassion for myself and insight.
Please always know you’re worth it. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will.
