The event will be held on 15th and 16th March 2023 at the NED UET Campus, Karachi.

The conference is focused on sub-themes covering the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering; namely, Robotics, Smart Grid, Power and Control, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, Artificial Intelligence, Wireless communications, Signal processing, Computer Systems and Networks, 5G/6G Communication Systems, Communication Technologies for Smart Communities, and computing applications.

The highlights of INTERACT 2023 include six plenary sessions, eleven industrial sessions, poster exhibition, papers presentation, and six keynote addresses. Plenary speakers include Dr. Kamran Arshad, Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Ajman University UAE, Dr. Ted Johannson, Uppsala University, with four plenary sessions on Semiconductor Industry by DreamBig Semiconductor, NuNami, Xcelerium, and Digitek. Eleven sessions by Industrial Experts focusing on industry and academia linkage, entrepreneurship opportunities for engineers, artificial intelligence and its applications, importance of technical audit in industry 4.0, cyber security, microchip applications, robotics and automation, IoT services and applications, smart grid, data sciences have been scheduled.

Six technical sessions on Sensors and Systems, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Wireless Communication, Communication Systems, Robotics and Control with twenty six paper presentations have been planned. Moreover, a poster exhibition where 30+ posters targeting various sectors of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering are being presented for the attendees and guests.

Speaking with CW Pakistan, Dr. Muhammad Faizan Shirazi, conference secretary shared,

“Pakistan’s ICT industry has seen significant growth over the past few years, with a focus on software development, IT services, and e-commerce. According to a report by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the ICT industry’s export revenue increased to $2.123 billion during the 2020-21 fiscal year, with a 47% year-on-year growth rate.

The government of Pakistan has taken various initiatives to support the ICT industry, including tax incentives, infrastructure development, and capacity building programs, including the Incubation Center program to support startups and entrepreneurs, and the PSEB is actively promoting the Pakistani ICT industry at international forums. Despite these initiatives, the ICT industry in Pakistan still faces some challenges, including a lack of skilled human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and low access to financing.

However, with the growing demand for digital services and the increasing use of technology in businesses and government, the industry’s potential for growth and development is promising. In summary, the ICT industry in Pakistan has shown impressive growth in recent years, and the government is taking steps to support its development. However, there is still room for improvement, particularly in terms of addressing the industry’s challenges and promoting a skilled workforce.”

CW Pakistan is the Technology Media Partner for the event this year. Dr. Muhammad Faizan Shirazi, Conference Secretary

We are glad that CW Pakistan is covering the highlights of the INTERACT conference. It is a delight for us and we are hopeful that this collaboration is a capstone which will yield future partnerships for both the University and CW Pakistan.

He added, “We anticipate that this event will build up the linkages between academia and industry. It will benefit both stakeholders in the future advancement and in solving critical problems in the industry. This conference will create an environment for knowledge dissemination. As a result, a collaborative platform will be established for leading academic scientists, industrialists and researchers to exchange ideas and share their ongoing research work and their practical experiences.

It will also address the current challenges and present solutions to electronic and telecommunications engineering problems. It will amplify the collaboration between academia and industry for innovation and development.”
